The students Sporveien hosted, chose two different subjects. The master thesis from Aline Pereira Da Silva was based on work to explore and expose the data maturity, what is available of data and how it is used. She also explored the organization as such and worked on communication and suggested improvements.
The post doc candidate Haytham Ali focused on using conseptual models and and data to create common understanding of challenges and problems. Haytham focused also on improvements on corrective maintenance processes, correlated data on corrective faults with weather data and suggested improvements.
The benefit for Sporveien was having a theoretical angle to a very practical hands on culture. It was both beneficial and challenging because the “language” did not always correlate and resonate. But both candidates knew about this, and communicated very intelligently with the technicians and worker in the Maintenance Base.
Figure shows that the languages are different, but the goal is pretty much the same.
The participation in the HASEIF has given Sporveien the following:
- Focus on- and improve data based decision processes
- Carefully harvest and store data in an standardized way giving a unified data format
- Focus on how to use advanced analysis methods such as machine learning and AI to give beneficial and useful results
- Focus on predictive analysis and methods of trend analysis to foresee any errors before they occur.
- Process optimization, and efficient use of resources
- Focus on datadriven culture and the challenge of getting there I context of the current situation.
- Insight in both academia and industry – regarding use of big data
